Harrisburg Senators News Release

The Harrisburg Senators announced today that pitcher Chris Schroder and outfielder Melvin Nieves have been sent to triple-A New Orleans. The moves were made necessary when two Washington Nationals' players, Terrmel Sledge and Joey Eischen were placed on the Disabled list. Those moves started a chain reaction.

The Senators will receive outfielder Jesus Feliciano to fill one of the vacant roster spots. Feliciano, signed recently by the Nationals, played in Mexico early this season, but was not playing currently.

Schroder will be making his second trip to Triple-A as he was called up to Edmonton near the end of the 2004 season. With the Senators this season, Schroder was 2-0 with a 2.63 ERA in eight appearances.

Nieves appeared in all 23 games with the Senators this season and compiled a .260 average with four homers and 16 RBI.

Feliciano was originally drafted by the Dodgers in the 36th round of the 1997 draft. He played at single-A Bakersfield and double-A Montgomery in 2004.

Harrisburg's roster stands at 23 players, one below the allowable limit. However Eastern League team rosters will drop to 23 active players on Saturday, May 7th.
