
Two Offensive Linemen Join Rough Riders

Peoria Rough Riders News Release
Chuck Goodwin, Head Coach/ Director of Player Personnel, announces the signings of C.J. Sanderson and Gary Young to the Peoria Rough Riders roster.
6'7" 295 lbs., C.J. Sanderson from Concordia University, St. Paul joins the Rough Riders for the 2006 season. While at Concordia, C.J. earned several honors for his play on the offensive line. In 2004 Sanderson was named All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference-Second Team. In 2005 Sanderson was named First team All-NSIC as well as earning 2nd Team All Northwest Region honors in Don Hansen's Football Gazette, 2nd team Daktronics All-Region Team and d2football.com All-Region honorable mention. C.J. was a main part of the #11 ranked rushing unit in NCAA Div. 2 and set a school record with 2,756 rushing yards.
Joining Sanderson in the trenches will be 6'6" 345 lbs. Offensive Lineman Gary Young. Young attended both Northern Illinois University and Lindenwood University. Young excelled for the Lions winning All-Conference honors in the Heart of America Athletic Conference. Gary Young was also named to the 2004 Don Hansen's Football Gazette NAIA North All-Region Team and was Honorable mention NAIA All-American that same year. Sanderson also was a NAIA Academic All-American.
OTHER NEWS AND NOTES:
- Tuesday, January 31 Peoria Rough Riders players, coaches and staff will be going to the Children's Hospital of Illinois to spread cheer to the patients at the hospital
- Sunday, February 5th members of the 2006 Peoria Rough Riders will attend a Superbowl Party at American Pi, 5720 North Knoxville Ave. in Peoria. There is a $5 cover charge and fans must be at least 21. There will be a 50/50 drawing, Silent Auction and a Clipboard Auction with all proceeds benefiting Cystic Fibrosis. 99x/WIXO will also be doing a live remote from American Pi. Fans will also have the opportunity to take on 99x Morning Show Personality, Matt Bahan, in the Madden Challenge. The Peoria Miller Girls will also be present with great prizes.
