UIF update
January 30, 2006 - United Indoor Football Association (UIF) News Release
UIF MEETINGS DECLARED A SUCCESS - United Indoor Football team owners, staff and league officials left Bloomington, IL., calling the event an overwhelming success. The four-day conference covered rules and regulations, round table discussions on a variety of topics including expansion, media and public relations and community service. In the weeks to come, the league will formally announce rule changes and announce a variety of league initiatives to promote the league and redouble their efforts to be strong contributing members of their communities. Fans will be especially pleased on how we promote the league this season with a lot of fun and exciting developments including a host of new media opportunities.
U SHOULD KNOW - United Indoor Football continues to beef up its commitment to its fans with the addition of several exciting new projects. Beginning in February, UIF will unveil its brand new Internet radio show, "This Week in the UIF," hosted by Dean Jackson, the league's communications director. Fans will get an opportunity to hear highlights and news from around the league as well as interviews with coaches, players and administrators. Watch www.unitedindoorfootball.com for more details.
SCORE UPDATES - At least once per quarter, fans will receive e-mails or text message score updates. The service will also provide an update of the final score for each of the scheduled games. Fans wishing to join the U-Scores distribution list should e-mail: U-scores@unitedindoorfootball.com. Contact your cellular service provider to confirm your cell phone's capacity to receive text messaging service and to determine their text messaging e-mail address.
UIF SCORE HOTLINE - Immediately following the last game of the evening, the telephone hotline will feature the final scores and game highlights. You may call 1-888-433-4UIF and follow the prompts.
WELCOME ABOARD - Mike Girard joins the United Indoor Football league office as Communications manager. Mike spent last season as an intern with the Sioux Falls Storm.
NEW SHERIFF IN TOWN - Mike Zuckerman takes the reigns of the Lexington Horsemen. Zuckerman was the defense coordinator under former coach Bob Sphire. Sphire departs to Georgia for the head coaching job at North Gwinett High School near Atlanta. Sphire won an Indoor Bowl championship in 2004 and a Class 3A title last fall at Lexington Catholic.
WEDDING BELLS - If you notice Omaha Beef General Manager/Head Coach Robert Fuller sporting some "bling" on his ring finger these days, you aren't mistaken. He joins the world of wedded bliss. After a vacation in a secluded Mexican resort, Fuller is hard at work leading the Beef.
GET WELL SOON! - We wish Fort Wayne Freedom owner Rich Coffey a speedy recovery. Earlier this month, Rich underwent quadruple bypass surgery. He's at home resting, but says he's eager to get back in the office.
