BlueCats Sign Bennett

EVANSVILLE, IN: The Evansville BlueCats are excited to announce that Sean Bennett will be back with the BlueCats this season. Bennett played seven games with Evansville last season before leaving to play in Canada with the Ottawa Renegades of the CFL. Bennett also played for both the BlueCats and Renegades back in 2004. In addition to the playing for Evansville and Ottawa, Bennett has additional professional experience in the NFL, playing with the New York Jets in 2003 and the New York Giants in 1999, 2000, and 2002.
Before his pro football career, Sean played football for the University of Evansville and Northwestern University.
Last season with the BlueCats, Bennett played wide receiver and slot back; catching 21 passes for 279 yards and 6 touchdowns. He was also used at running back in short yardage situations, scoring 7 touchdowns on 13 rushing attempts. He also recorded 6.5 tackles in special teams action. The BlueCats had a 5-2 record in the seven games with Sean Bennett on the team.
On April 2nd, 2005, in a UIF Week 3 game against the Lexington Horsemen, Bennett turned in one of the finest performances in league history when he scored 5 touchdowns in a single game and led the BlueCats to a thrilling 57-52 victory over arch-rival Lexington at Roberts Stadium. He scored 3 rushing touchdowns on only 5 carries, and caught two passes for 45 yards, both for touchdowns.
He also had a huge game against the Tupelo FireAnts in Week 4, catching 7 passes for 112 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Bennett grew up in Evansville and attended Harrison High School. He was the valedictorian of his high school class.

He's a difference maker and he'll be difficult for other teams to match up with and contain. Sometimes it's difficult to measure his impact on the field because he helps out in so many ways.
