Tonight at 7:05 at Ron Tonkin Field in Hillsboro, the Hillsboro Hops meet the Cubs' Northwest League affiliate, the Eugene Emeralds, in the first game of a three-game series. Hillsboro and Eugene (both 7-6) are tied for first in the South Division with 25 games remaining in the first half.
Tonight's game will feature a duel of excellent left-handed pitching prospects. Cody Reed, Arizona's second-round draft selection in 2014, will pitch for Hillsboro. He is 1-0 with an ERA of 0.90 in two starts. The Cubs' fifth-round selection in 2014, Justin Steele, will go for the Emeralds. He is 1-0, 0.82 in two starts.
