
Hawks Give Up Late Lead and Lose

Everett, Washington - The Boise Hawks squandered a two-run eighth inning lead on Tuesday night and fell to the Everett Aquasox on by a score of 5-3.
The Hawks took the lead in the first inning on a two-run home run off the bat of Yonathan Daza, his second in as many days.
The Aquasox responded in the bottom half of the inning, picking up one run on a Braden Bishop sacrifice fly to center field that scored Jordan Cowan.
Kevin Padlo added a solo home run in the top of the third inning, stretching the Hawks lead to 3-1.
That score would remain for several innings as Hawks starting pitcher, Javier Palacios mowed through the Sox lineup, pitching six innings of four hit ball while allowing no earned runs and striking out three.
The Aquasox offense finally came to life in the bottom of the eighth inning as they crossed home plate four times to take the lead. Corey Simpson hit a two RBI single and Alex Jackson immediately followed with a first pitch two-run home run that gave the Sox a 5-3 advantage.
The Hawks went quietly in the ninth inning as the Aquasox took the series three games to two.
Taylor Black took the loss for the Hawks, putting in two innings of work and allowing four runs on five hits with three strikeouts.
Troy Scott picked up the win for the Aquasox, pitching two and two thirds of an inning and giving up no runs on two hits.
The Hawks (5-8) return to Boise tomorrow to take on the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes in a three game series. First pitch is at 7:15 p.m.
Notes: After going 2-4 with a double and home run, Yonathan Daza has now taken the Northwest League batting average lead at .395. Luis Liberato of Everett came into the game leading the league with a .410 average but dropped to .374 after going 0-4...Hamlet Marte remains tied for the league lead in doubles after hitting his seventh of the year.
