Two Catchers – de San Miguel and Christy - Involved in Moves

New Britain, CT - The New Britain Rock Cats announced two roster transactions this afternoon - each involving a Catcher. Related details are as follows:

Departing New Britain for Single-A, Beloit in the Midwest League is C Allan de San Miguel, a 21-year-old native of Perth, Australia. The young receiver is a defensive specialist who had appeared in 7 games for the 2009 Rock Cats. In his first action at the Double-A level, de San Miguel compiled a .190 Batting Average with 2 Doubles and 2 RBI.

Joining the Rock Cats is C Jeff Christy, a 25-year native of Lincoln, NE who previously appeared in a New Britain uniform in both 2007 and 2008. A 6th Round selection by Minnesota in 2006 out of the University of Nebraska, Christy has spent the early part of 2009 as a member of the Rochester Red Wings in the International League. The former Cornhusker, who served as New York Yankee Joba Chamberlain's battery-mate in college, appeared in 7 games for Triple-A Rochester where he batted .158 with 2 Doubles and 2 RBI.

Christy will join the Rock Cats after tonight's 6:35 PM game in New Britain against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats.
