Binghamton Rumble Ponies News Release

Members of the Greater Binghamton community joined together for an event organizers dubbed "A Night of Laughter & Healing" on Sunday evening, May 3rd at the Binghamton Regency hotel to help those affected by the American Civic Association Tragedy. One month earlier on April 3rd, 13 innocent people lost their lives when a gunman opened fire at the ACA headquarters.

The Binghamton Mets participated in the program by presenting a total check for $10,000 and providing a team signed jersey, autographed ball, assorted souvenirs and tickets to a 2009 home game. Local efforts initiated by the B-Mets through a player jersey sale and cash donation amounted to half of the dollar total. The New York Mets, Binghamton's Major League affiliate for the team's 18-season history, matched the B-Mets' contribution.

"Nothing can change the terrible tragedy inflicted on our fallen neighbors and their families. Our community bonds together in times of crisis. We hope that the contribution on behalf of the Binghamton and New York Mets combined with the generosity of many others can help the family members cope with their loss," said B-Mets GM Scott Brown.
