Two Big Innings Blast Bums to Blowout Win

Traverse City Beach Bums News Release


AVON, OH- The Traverse City Beach Bums(9-8) scored three runs in the third and six runs in the sixth to win their third game in row. Tonight, they defeated the Lake Erie Crushers(10-7), 9-2.

After a scoreless first inning, Lake Erie got on the board first with an RBI triple by Aaron Hill. The Beach Bums responded in the top of the inning, starting with an infield single by Arby Fields. Two batter later, Will Kengor showed off some opposite field power with a two run bomb to left-center, his second homer of the season, giving the Beach Bums a 2-1 lead. Luke Lowery followed with a single, stole second, then scored on a Steve Lohr single, doubling their advantage.

Lake Erie pulled within one in the fifth inning when Dane Hutcheon drove in a run on a fielder's choice. Once again, the response was immediate from the Beach Bums. Lohr walked to lead off the following half inning and Max Dutto followed with an infield hit, but the runner moved to second and third on a throwing error. Kenny Peoples- Walls came to the plate and drove in Lohr with a single to makeit a 4-2 game. Orlando Rivera and Fields each walked, the latter coming with the bases loaded,extending the lead to three. Up came Isaac Benard, and he rocketed a grand slam over the left field wall, his second homer of the season.

John Havird picked up his first win of the season, with a stellar eight inning performance. He gave up one earned run on six hits and two walks while striking out eight, to improve to 1-1. Alex Romero is dealt the loss, dropping to 2-2. He went into the sixth, allowing seven runs on 10 hits and four walks.

Tomorrow night, the Beach Bums and Crushers finish up this week's three game set with Traverse City looking for the sweep. On the mound for Lake Erie will be Sean Renzi, while the Beach Bums go with with Jordan Desguin.
