Normal CornBelters News Release
NORMAL, Illinois - Prior to starting the nine-game road trip, the Normal CornBelters have announced the signing of Ryan Dickt.
Dickt joins the team as the third catcher on the roster after the release of Jay Carp on Sunday. Recently, he played for the Nicholasville Broncos, a member of the Thoroughbred League.
A native of Oak Hill, Virginia, he spent two years at Patrick Henry Community College (NJCAA) in Martinsville, Virginia before transferring to the University of Virginia's College at Wise (UVA-Wise).
He made an impact on the Cavalier program right away. In his Junior year, Dickt started in 33 games behind the plate and batted .289 with 19 RBIs on 26 hits. He also hit five home runs and made three relief appearances on the mound.
In his final year (2016) in Wise, Dickt recorded 33 hits with nine doubles and came around to score 26 times. Behind the plate he shined, only allowing eight pass balls and had 21 assists on the season.
Dickt will wear number 23 and be apart of the nine-game road trip starting with Southern Illinois (May 30-31).
