Twins Agree to Terms with Murphy on Minor League Contract

Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN - The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have agreed to terms with outfielder David Murphy on a minor league contract. Murphy was recently in spring training with the Boston Red Sox, hitting .265 (9-for-34) with three doubles and three RBI in 15 games before being released on March 28.

Murphy split the 2015 season between Cleveland and Los Angeles-AL, combining to hit .283 (102-for-361) with 18 doubles, 10 home runs and 50 RBI in 132 games. The 34-year-old has played 10 seasons in the majors with Boston, Texas, Cleveland Los Angeles-AL, hitting .274 (950-for-3467) with 203 doubles, 104 home runs and 472 RBI in 1,110 games.

Murphy will report to the Red Wings on Friday.
