Tulsa Makes A Trade For Toughness
August 5, 2004 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Tulsa Oilers News Release
Friday, October 29th just became a big day in the lives of Scott English and Nick Udovicic. That's the first time the Tulsa Oilers will face the Fort Worth Brahmas... the teams that swapped the rights for English and the rights for Udovicic this afternoon.
The Oilers get the option on a tough defenseman in Scott English, who garnered 324 penalty minutes last year for the Brahmas.
"He's a strong stay at home defender who's tough and likes to get involved. We expect Scott to play 'team-tough' and that fits nicely into our plans," according to Oilers Coach Butch Kaebel.
Weighing in at 220 pounds on a six-foot frame, English will bring some beef to the Tulsa line-up. In 44 games in the QMJHL two seasons ago, the Newmarket, Ontario native had 206 penalty minutes. English was limited to just two games in 2002-03.
On his way out the Oilers door, Udovicic contributed three points last season in 14 games with Tulsa, and 24 total (13g, 11a) in the Central Hockey League splitting time with the Oilers and Corpus Christi.
"Nick has a lot of skill... his talent should benefit whatever team he plays on," says Kaebel.
