Arizona Rattlers News Release
PHOENIX - The Arizona Rattlers have signed two newcomers to the Arena Football League, head coach Gene Nudo announced today.
Offensive/defensive lineman Marcus Johnson and FB/LB Eric Arevalo will join the team after impressive tryout camps.
Johnson (6' 1", 300 pounds), played four years at UNLV under the legendary John Robinson. He moved from guard to center for his senior year becoming the team's starting snapper. Johnson was named pre-season Second Team All-MWC in 2004.
"He showed great during the open tryouts," said Nudo. "He is a good technician as an offensive lineman."
Johnson finished his Rebel career alongside Coach John Robinson who ended his impressive 27 seasons of pro and college coaching in 2004 as the winningest bowl-game coach in college football history, and UNLV's second winningest coach.
Arevalo (6' 5", 225) joins the team after completing two seasons at Azusa Pacific University in California. Arevalo helped his team receive their third straight NAIA playoff berth in 2005. He also played the 2003 season at Mt. San Antonio Community College (CA) where he was named All-Mission Conference First Team.
"He had a real good workout with us." said Nudo. "He's a unique guy. He is a football player and an extreme fighter."
The Rattlers will kick off their 16th season in 2007. Rattlers season tickets can be purchased by calling 602-514-8383.
