Troop Outstanding in Sens' 2-0 Win

The Harrisburg Senators beat the Reading Fightin Phils Saturday night 2-0 in front of 7,330 at FNB Field. It was the third shutout this season for the Sens. Alex Troop struck out nine and allowed just five hits in six innings of work. The Sens two runs came on a single to center by Jack Dunn that scored Trey Harris and Dunn when two errors were committed on the play.

Alex Troop started the shutout, going six innings and allowing five hits while striking out nine. He twice pitched out of trouble. Reading put their first two on in the second inning and then had a leadoff triple in the fourth, but both times Troop pitched out of the jam. Brian Gonzalez followed with a scoreless seventh. Francys Peguero pitched a perfect eighth with a strikeout. Reid Schaller earned his third save on the season with a perfect ninth inning.

The Senators had just three hits in the game but two of three came in the fourth inning when the Sens scored their two runs.

With the win, the Senators have won the season series with one game to go in this series. Harrisburg can gain a split of the six-game series with a win Sunday afternoon.
