
Trio of Homers Sting Melton in Lopsided Loss

Three early home runs bit Erie (21-14) in a 9-3 loss to Harrisburg (22-15).
Yohandy Morales scorched an opposite-field homer against Erie starter Troy Melton in the second inning to give the Senators a 1-0 lead.
Erie tied the game in the top of the third against Harrisburg starter Andry Lara on Stephen Scott's solo homer.
Erie bypassed a chance to score with runners on the corners and none out in the fourth. In the bottom of the fourth, Brady House slugged a solo homer to give Harrisburg a 2-1 lead. Later in the frame, Dérmis Garcia drilled a two-run homer to make it 4-1.
Melton lasted 4.2 innings, allowing four runs on five hits with one walk and six strikeouts.
Tim Naughton loaded the bases in the sixth on two walks and a hit batter. With two out, J.T. Arruda lined a two-run single to make it 6-1. Robert Hassell III then reached on a throwing error by Hao-Yu Lee, which scored Harrisburg's seventh run. Joel Peguero replaced Naughton and allowed a two-run single to Andrew Pinckney, which made it 9-1. Three of the five runs charged to Naughton were unearned.
Erie inched closer with a pair of unearned runs against Tyler Schoff in the seventh inning. Scott drove in his second run of the game on a bases-loaded groundout. Trei Cruz then scored on a wild pitch, making it 9-3.
Lara (1-0) earned the win in his Double-A debut.. He went 6.1 innings, allowing just one earned run on three hits, three walks, and five strikeouts. Melton (1-3) took the loss.
Austin Bergner starts for Erie on Saturday at 6:00 p.m. Michael Cuevas pitches for Harrisburg.
