Somerset Patriots News Release
Bridgewater, NJ - The Somerset Patriots (66-41) polished off a series victory at TD Bank Ballpark on Sunday night with a 10-1 win over the Hartford Yard Goats (63-43) behind three home runs and a slew of stellar pitching throughout the game.
Austin Wells, Andres Chaparro and Elijah Dunham all went deep in the game, which included a grand slam off the bat of Dunham that capped the game's scoring in the sixth inning.
Dunham also extended his career-best hit streak to 12 straight games with a 3-for-4 day at the plate, while his 4 RBI tied a season high.
The homers for Wells and Chaparro opened up the game's scoring in the first inning, when Somerset jumped out to a 3-0 lead.
That lead was doubled in the second inning, behind an RBI-single from Wells, a sacrifice fly from Anthony Volpe and an RBI-triple for Everson Pereira.
Pereira, Wells, Dunham, Chapparo and Wagaman all had multi-hit games that accounted for all 11 of Somerset's hits.
In his 20th start of the season, RHP Randy Vasquez picked up his first win with five innings where he allowed only one unearned run with six strikeouts.
Four Patriots relievers, Barrett Loseke, Tanner Myatt, Caleb Cowart and Emmanuel Ramirez, each pitched a scoreless inning to hold Hartford off the board in the nine-run victory.
With the win, the Patriots secured a series victory vs. the Yard Goats, capping their 12-game home stand with a 6-6 split.
The 2022 Somerset Patriots Season presented by Ford will continue on the road with a six-game series vs. the Bowie Baysox. The series opener will take place on Tuesday night with a 6:35 p.m. first pitch at Prince George's Stadium.
Yankees No. 10 prospect RHP Clayton Beeter will make his second start for the Yankees organization opposite Bowie RHP Garrett Stallings.
