SEA DOGS FALL IN EXTRAS - The Portland Sea Dogs fell in extras yesterday to the Richmond Flying Squirrels, 8-6, snapping their four game winning streak. In the first, Mike Gigliotti led off the inning with a hit by pitch and Tyler Fitzgerald doubled, placing runners at second and third. Tristan Peters grounded out to first, bringing in Gigliotti to give Richmond a 1-0 lead. Diego Rincones lifted a sacrifice fly to right, scoring Fitzgerald, expanding the Flying Squirrels lead to 2-0. In the bottom of the inning, Refsnyder and Hernandez led off, with Refsnyder walking and Hernandez hitting a double to put runners at second and third. Ceddanne Rafaela grounded out to third, scoring Refsnyder, cutting into Richmond's lead 2-1. The Bean Suppahs took the lead in the second inning. Wilyer Abreu and Nick Northcut hit back-to-back singled to start the inning. David Hamilton reached on a bunt single, but drew an errant throw from Dahlberg, going down the first base line, scoring Abreu and Northcut to take a 3-2 advantage. Hamilton led off the fourth with a solo homer, increasing the lead to 4-0. Elih Marrero walked and Refsnyder doubled, putting runners at second and third. Hernandez doubled to center, scoring both Marrero and Refsnyder, expanding the lead to 6-2. In the eighth, Fitzgerald reached on a throwing error from Christian Koss and proceeded to steal second base. Tristan Peters walked. Diego Rincones hit a three-run homer to tie the game at 6-6. Both teams went scoreless in the ninth, forcing the game into extra innings In the eleventh, Ricardo Genoves worked a walk to put runners at first and second. Casey Schmitt doubled to center, scoring Aldrete, taking the lead 7-6. Jacob Heyward hit a sacrifice fly to center in the next at-bat, scoring Martorano and extending the Flying Squirrels lead to 8-6. Cole Waites shut down the Suppahs in the bottom of the 11th, giving Maine a loss, 8-6.

MAJOR LEAGUE REHABBERS SHINE - Major League rehabber Rob Refsnyder joined the team yesterday, while Kiké Hernandez played his third game in Portland this week. Refsnyder went 1-for-1 with a double, two walks, and two runs scored. Hernandez finished his night 2-for-4 with a 2 RBI double

STILL TOP DOGS - The Sea Dogs continue to sit atop the Northeast Division of the Eastern League. Portland has a 1.5 game lead over the second place Somerset Patriots and lead the third place Hartford Yard Goats by 2.5 games. In the Southwest Division, the Bowie Baysox are in first place, 1.0 game ahead of the Erie SeaWolves.

IZZY WILSON GETS ON BASE - Izzy Wilson is currently riding a nine game on base streak for the Sea Dogs. During that time, he is hitting .292 and has an on-base percentage of .414. He is 7-for-24 with four runs, two homers, four RBI, five walks and five strikeouts.

THIS DATE IN SEA DOGS HISTORY - August 14, 2012 - Brandon Workman tosses six scoreless innings on two hits in his Double-A debut, as Portland clobbers Altoona 13-2. Workman retired the first 12 batters faced and allowed back-to-back singles to start the fifth. The righty fanned six and did not issue a walk. Seven of nine starters had at least two hits.

PITCHING MATCHUP - RHP Brayan Bello will take the mound today in a Major League rehab appearance. He tossed the fifth-ever no-hitter in Sea Dogs history May 5th vs Reading in the second game of a doubleheader. Bello just needed 96 pitches to complete the feat, allowing one run (unearned) while walking three and striking out five. He was named Eastern League Pitcher of the Week, May 2 - 8 following his no-hitter. He made his Major League Baseball debut July 6th against the Tampa Bay Rays. Bello is 0-3 with a 8.47 ERA with the Red Sox in five games. He has only allowed two earned runs across his last two outings spanning 5.1 innings with six strikeouts.
