Tri-City Takes Game, Series from Spokane

The Tri-City Dust Devils won their third consecutive series and third consecutive game Sunday night, defeating the Spokane Indians 5-4. The Dust Devils trailed 4-0 after three innings, but used a four-run fourth inning and two wild pitches in the eighth inning to record their twelfth win of the season.
Tri-City (12-12) starting pitcher Peter Tago went 5 2/3 innings in his fifth start of the season, allowing four runs on six hits while striking out one and walking two. Righty Ryan Arrowood (1-0) relieved Tago and threw 2 1/3 perfect innings in which he struck out four and walked none. Closer Seth Willoughby (Sv, 2) then earned his second save of the season, throwing a scoreless bottom of the ninth inning.
Spokane (8-16) starter Connor Sadzeck allowed four Dust Devil runs, all in the fourth inning. The righty threw five innings, allowing those four runs on three hits while striking out four and walking two. Reliever Jose Monegro then followed Sadzeck and threw two shutout innings for the Indians. Righty Cody Kendall (0-1) then came in for Spokane and allowed the Dust Devils' game-deciding run, throwing a wild-pitch with a runner on third and giving Tri-City their first lead of the game.
Dust Devils outfielder Kyle Von Tungeln continued his great start to his professional career, going 2-for-3 and improving his batting average to .450 on the year. Shortstop Rosell Herrera, in his Dust Devils debut, singled to lead off the eighth inning and would eventually score the game-winning run for Tri-City. Two wild pitches and a groundout by Anthony Aguilera allowed him to advance all the way home without the Dust Devils recording another hit. Outfielders Derek Jones and Jarod Berggren each went 1-for-3 with a run batted in for Tri-City in front of 1,750 at Gesa Stadium.
The series finale between the Dust Devils and Indians is Monday Night as Tri-City looks for its second sweep of the season. It is also Coca-Cola Monday at the ballpark with all 22-ounce Coke products on sale for just one dollar all night long. Tri-City right-hander Shane Broyles will get the start on the mound for the Dust Devils with righty Abel De Los Santos starting for the Indians, first pitch at 7:15 p.m.
