KENNEWICK, WA - Tri-City Americans general manager Bob Tory announced today that the team has hired Jerry Price as a scout in northern British Columbia. Jerry will also serve as a goaltending evaluator with the Americans, working with listed prospects.

Jerry, the father of former Americans goaltender, Carey Price, was selected in the eighth round of the 1978 NHL Draft by the Philadelphia Flyers organization. Jerry played eight seasons of professional hockey in various leagues, including a stint with the Portland Winter Hawks back in 1977-78. Jerry will join the staff at the Americans training camp, set to open on August 23.

"Jerry brings a wealth of experience in a calm, professional manner and with Carey now graduated from our program, it is a great time to bring him on board," said Tory. "I have the utmost respect for Jerry's knowledge, experience and demeanor; we feel he will be a tremendous asset in helping to identify and develop our goaltending prospects."
