Mueller Signs Pro Contract with Phoenix Coyotes

Everett, WA - July 12, 2007: The Phoenix Coyotes of the National Hockey League has announced that they have signed Everett Silvertips forward Peter Mueller to a professional entry level contract. As per club policy, terms and conditions of the deal were not disclosed. Mueller was selected by the Phoenix Coyotes in the 1st round (8th overall) of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.

During the 2006-2007 regular season with Everett, Mueller posted 21 goals and 57 assists for 78 points in 51 games and finished second on the hockey club in scoring. The Bloomington, MN native finished 13th in the WHL in scoring (78), 4th in the WHL in assists (57), and 1st among all WHL players in points per game (1.53). After the regular season ended, Mueller was selected as a 1st Team Western Conference All-Star. During the 2007 WHL Playoffs, Peter led the Silvertips in playoff scoring with 7 goals and 9 assists for 16 points in 12 post season games.

The Everett Silvertips 2nd round (21st overall) draft pick in the 2003 WHL Bantam Draft had a very impressive rookie season with the Silvertips during the 2005-2006 campaign by being named the Western Hockey League Rookie of the Year. In his first season in the WHL, Mueller finished tied for 2nd among all WHL Rookies in scoring with 58 points. On the Silvertips hockey club, Mueller was awarded the Everett Silvertips Rookie of the Year Award. Mueller finished 2nd on the Silvertips in goals scored with 26 goals and 3rd on the team in points with 58.

In his tenure with the Silvertips, Mueller played in two World Junior Championships with Team USA. At the 2007 World Junior Championships in Sweden, Mueller recorded 3 goals and 3 assists to help lead Team USA to a bronze medal finish. Overall in Silvertips franchise history, Mueller becomes the ninth current or former Silvertip to sign a NHL contract.
