Tri-City Drops Tight Affair
July 15, 2019 - Northwest League (NWL1)
Tri-City Dust Devils News Release
The Tri-City Dust Devils (14-16) were unable to rally north of the border on Sunday night as the team fell 2-1 to the Vancouver Canadians (9-21). Carlos Luis went 3-for-3 at the plate, finishing the day with half of Tri-City's hits in the game.
Vancouver scored all two of their runs in the bottom of the fifth inning off of Jake Sims. The Dust Devils reliever struggled with his command. The Canadians only had one hit in the inning, but Sims walked three consecutive batters that proved to be costly. Starting pitcher Ethan Elliott had another strong outing in his fifth start of the season. Elliott tossed three scoreless frames and has now only allowed one earned run in 11 innings of work this summer.
Tri-City right-hander Nick Thwaits will start the middle game of the three-game road series on Monday night. Vancouver will counter with right-hander Adam Kloffenstein. The Dust Devils will return to Gesa Stadium on Wednesday to face the Everett AquaSox. Wednesday at Gesa Stadium will be Dusty's Birthday presented by Vivid Imaginations Professional Face Painting. Great seats are available by calling the team's office at (509) 544-8789 or by going to www.dustdevilsbaseball.com to purchase tickets.
