Tri-City Comes from Behind But Falls to Sioux City

KEARNEY, NE. - The Tri-City Storm came from behind in Saturday's game to take a 3rd period lead over the Sioux City Musketeers but fell by a final score of 4-3. Kieran Cebrian, Ilya Nikolaev, and Cole O'Hara scored the Storm's goals in the loss. Following the upcoming holiday break, Tri-City will return to action in a home game against Lincoln on December 31st.

Sioux City's Griffin Ludtke scored his second goal of the season at 5:58 of the 1st period to give the Musketeers a 1-0 lead in the game. Bennett Schimek notched his second assist of the year on the scoring play. Nick Pierre scored his ninth goal of the season on the powerplay at 8:10 of the 1st period to increase Sioux City's lead to two goals. Kirklan Irey recorded his fourth assist of the year on the play. Tri-City outshot Sioux City 8-7 in the 1st period but trailed 2-0 entering Saturday's 2nd period. Tri-City was 2-4-0-0 when trailing after the 1st period entering Saturday's home game.

Kieran Cebrian scored in the opening minute of Saturday's 2nd period to put Tri-City on the scoreboard. Cebrian's goal was netted at 0:54 of the period and was his fifth scoring play of the season. Dane Dowiak and Mitchell Miller each notched an assist on Cebrian's even-strength goal. Dowiak's assist was his third of the year, and Miller's assist was his 14th of the season. With three minutes left to play in the 2nd period, Ilya Nikolaev notched his sixth goal of the year to tie the game at 2-2. Jeremy Wilmer recorded his team-leading 20th assist on the scoring play. Tri-City outshot Sioux City 10-6 in the 2nd period. The Storm held a 5-3-0-0 record when tied after the 2nd period entering Saturday's game.

Cole O'Hara scored his 11th goal of the season at 6:59 of Saturday's 3rd period to give the Storm a 3-2 lead in the game. O'Hara's goal was assisted by Jeremy Wilmer and was scored on the powerplay. Sioux City's Owen McLaughlin tied the game at 9:04 of the 3rd period by scoring his 10th goal of the season. Charlie Schoen assisted on the scoring play. At 11:39 of the 3rd period, Tabor Heaslip scored his second goal of the year to give the Musketeers a 4-3 lead in the game. Ben Steeves recorded an assist on the goal. Tri-City elected to lift goaltender Arsenii Sergeev for an extra attacker in the final minute of Saturday's game but fell one goal short of forcing overtime.

Alex Tracy improved to 9-4-2-0 in the victory for Sioux City after stopping 23 of Tri-City's 26 shots on goal. Arsenii Sergeev dropped the game in net for the Storm after making 18 saves on 22 shots.

Following the holiday break, Tri-City is set to return to action on New Year's Eve in a battle against in-state rival Lincoln. The game will feature a Nebraska Lottery Rivalry Pack. The pack includes four tickets, four hotdogs, four sodas, two Nebraska Lottery Scratch Off Tickets, and buy-one-get-one passes to the Kearney Children's Museum for $40.
