Vermont Lake Monsters News Release

Burlington, VT- The New York-Penn League baseball doubleheader between the Tri-City ValleyCats and Vermont Expos was postponed on Thursday due to wet grounds from a torrential downpour at Centennial Field.

The field was hit around 4:15 p.m. with a downpour and the infield was unable to be covered. After the rain stopped, the Expos groundscrew worked on the field for a couple of hours before the field was deemed unplayable and called shortly after 7:00 p.m.

The first game of the Thursday rained out doubleheader will be made up as part of a doubleheader on Friday, August 20th beginning at 6:05 p.m. Thursday's second game will be made up as part of a doubleheader when the ValleyCats return to Vermont on Friday, August 27th.

The postponement was the fourth of the season for Vermont at Centennial Field and the sixth overall for the Expos. Instead of the scheduled 38 home dates, the Expos are now scheduled for just 34. Vermont will now have three doubleheaders at Centennial Field on August 20th and 27th against Tri-City and September 2nd with the Lowell Spinners.
