Tri-Cities Squeaks by Everett in Overtime

The Everett Silvertips fell to the Tri-City Americans in tonight's game by a final score of 3-2, after a shoot out. With the loss the Silvertips rest at 35-7-0-2 and 72 points, still number one in the US Division. The Americans, 3rd in the division, now have a 27-16-0-1 history and 55 points. This was the third meeting of eight and the Silvertips lead the series 2-0-0-1.

All the regulation scoring came in the second period. At 56 seconds, while the Americans had an extra man advantage, Colton Yellow Horn put Tri-Cities on the board. Under a minute later Moises Gutierrez, on a power play, scored the first of two after he tipped in a shot from Ondrej Fiala. At 12:36, on yet another power play, Gutierrez posted another tally after he hammered it home to put Everett up 2-1. The Americans tied it up at 16 minutes when Drew Hoff caught a rebound and sent the puck past Leland Irving.

After a scoreless overtime period the game progressed to a shoot out. Colton Yellow Horn scored the game winning shout out goal to win the game for the Americans by a final score of 3-2.

Posting assists for the night were Ondrej Fiala and Dan Gendur, both with two a piece. In goal Leland Irving made 35 stops on 37 shots but drops his record to 20-4-0-2. Carey Price, the Tri-City netminder, moves up to 15-8 after he made 25 saves on 27 shots. The Americans out shot the Silvertips 38-27.

The Silvertips now travel north to Vancouver, BC where they will battle the Vancouver Giants. The puck drops early at 4pm.
