ERIE, PA, Feb. 3, 2010 - Guard Jeff Trepagnier knocked down six 3-pointers on his way to a team high 25 points as the Iowa Energy defeated Erie 101-87 Wednesday night.
After a see-saw first, Iowa jumped all over Erie early in the second quarter. Reserve forward Mark Tyndale scored six points in a 1:07 span as the Energy went on a 9-0 run to open the second quarter. Iowa outscored Erie 35-21 in the period as Tyndale and Trepagnier combined for 22 points.
The Energy extended the lead to 86-66 at the end of the 3rd before coasting to their 23rd victory of the season.
Iowa was led by Trepagnier's 25 points while D-League All-Star Earl Barron added 14 points and 12 rebounds. The Energy improve to 23-6 on the season, best in the league.
Erie was led by Jackie Manuel's 25 points. Forward Alade Aminu added 17 points and 8 rebounds in the loss. Erie falls to 12-17 on the season, including 0-5 against Iowa.
Iowa returns home for weekend games on Friday, February 5th and Saturday, February 6th. The game on February 6th features a doubleheader with the Ames High School boys team playing at 5pm and the Energy playing at 7pm. Your ticket gets you in to both games that evening.
