
Travs Win Fourth Straight 10-3 Over Frisco

Ray Winder Field, Little Rock, AR â SS Erick Aybar blasted two home runs and DH Greg Porter collected four base hits as the Arkansas Travelers (25-20) picked up their fourth straight victory 10-3 over the Frisco RoughRiders (17-28). Aybar slammed two solo home runs (3), while Porter had his second four hit game of the season. Arkansas RF Tommy Murphy extended a hitting streak to 13 games with a 2-for-4 effort which included a home run (7) and two RBI. LHP Daniel Davidson (5-1) was the beneficiary of a 16-hit attack, but scattered six hits in 5.2 innings allowing three runs (all earned) with three walks and four strikeouts. In the field, the Travs turned four double plays with 3B Ryan Leahy starting three twin-killings.
Frisco jumped ahead in the top of the first inning as 2B Jace Brewer reached on a strikeout/wild pitch. 1B Jason Hart followed with a double to left center field for a 1-0 Frisco lead. Frisco 3B Seth Taylor knocked in Hart with a single to left and it was 2-0 RoughRiders.
Frisco starter RHP Nick Masset retired the first two hitters of the first inning on just three pitches, but the Travs then sent seven hitters to the plate. Murphy started the rally with a line drive home run to right field. Then David Gates and Greg Porter singled followed by a walk to Mike Napoli to load the bases. Masset then walked Mike Eylward to force in the tying run. He then threw two wild pitches with Chris Morris at the plate allowing two more runs to score for a 4-2 Travs lead.
Leading off the bottom of the second inning Aybar ripped a line drive home run to right field for a 5-2 lead.
Masset again had command problems in the fourth inning as he walked Alberto Callaspo and hit Murphy with a pitch before balking the runners up one base. Singles by Gates, Porter and Napoli each scored a run putting Arkansas ahead 8-2.
Leading off the fifth inning, Aybar stroked a high fly ball that clipped the top of the Screen Monster in right field for his second homer of the game and a 9-2 lead.
Aybar's third hit, a single, came in the seventh inning with one out. A groundout moved him to second base and a single by Murphy scored him for a 10-3 Travs lead.
The Travs RHP Matt Wilhite tossed 1.1 innings of scoreless ball, while RHP Von Stertzbach and LHP Jonathon Rouwenhorst each pitching a scoreless inning.
Time of game was 2:46 and the paid attendance was 3,343.
The Travs start an eight-game road trip Thursday night in Midland. The Travelers plan on RHP Steven Shell (1-4, 4.68 ERA) pitching against Midland's LHP Matt Lynch (4-2, 3.96 ERA). First pitch at Citibank Field will be thrown at 6:30 p.m.
