NORTH LITTLE ROCK, AR - Back-to-back home runs by Kaden Polcovich and Jose Caballero capped a five-run eighth inning as Arkansas rallied for a 6-2 win Tuesday night over Corpus Christi.
The Hooks, who were held to three hits, received a strong start by Cesar Gomez who allowed one run over 5 2/3 innings. The damage against Gomez came in the first as he retired 16 of the last 20 men he faced, striking out five.
Corpus Christi enjoyed a 2-1 lead over the first seven frames. Cesar Salazar clubbed a home run in the fourth. The solo blast was struck at 104 miles per hour and traveled 405 feet down the right-field line.
Following the game-tying home run, Salazar's 15th of the year, the Hooks pulled ahead with a marker in the seventh. Shay Whitcomb worked a walk and went first to third on a base hit by Grae Kessinger. C.J. Stubbs plated Whitcomb with a sac fly to right field.
Arkansas sent nine men to the plate in the eighth, breaking through against Devin Conn, who entered the contest having allowed only one unearned run over a span six outings (9.2 IP).
