Midland, TX - Four late runs left the Arkansas Travelers just short in an 8-7 series opening loss to the Amarillo Sod Poodles on Tuesday night. A five run deficit proved too much to overcome though for the Travs. Arkansas banged out just six hits but drew nine walks and all six hits went for extra bases including four home runs. However, no Travs player had more than one hit.

* Neyfy Castillo popped a grand slam in the bottom of the fifth putting Amarillo up 7-2.
* Isiah Gilliam homered in the ninth to pull Arkansas with one but the next two hitters were retired to end the game.
