Wichita, KS - The Wichita Wind Surge (20-20, 48-60) connected on three homers in the first 3.0 frames and held on the rest of the way for the 5-2 win against the Springfield Cardinals (20-20, 54-55) in the series opener at Riverfront Stadium on Tuesday night. The Cardinals are now tied with Wichita for 2nd place in the North Division 2nd Half Standings, just a half-game back of the Northwest Arkansas Naturals for 1st place.

Notables:

2B Thomas Saggese went 2x4 with a two-run triple in the 6th and a double to start the 9th... Saggese is tied for the lead in all of Minor League Baseball with 132 hits, while leading all of Double-A with 86 RBIs... DH Noah Mendlinger extended his 11-game hitting streak with a base hit... Wichita struck with solo homers from DH Alex Isola and C Patrick Winkel in the 1st, followed by a three-run shot from 1B Aaron Sabato in the 3rd.
