
Drillers Open Road Trip with Win in Frisco

Frisco, TX -The Tulsa Drillers began a two-week road trip on Tuesday night in Frisco with their first meeting this season against the RoughRiders.
In the opener, the Drillers pitching staff held the RoughRiders to only two runs and the offense provided seven runs of support in a 7-2 win at Riders Field. The staff struck out a combined 12 Frisco hitters.
Nick Frasso started on the mound and gave up a rare home run in the first inning. On the second pitch of the inning, Jax Biggers hit a solo home run to right field. It was just the fourth home run given up by Frasso this season.
Tulsa answered in the third inning to take the lead. With runners at first and third base, the Drillers hottest hitter, Yusniel Diaz, doubled into the left field corner, which allowed both runners to score and give Tulsa a 2-1 lead.
After the first-inning home run, Frasso allowed just three hits and two walks to keep Frisco scoreless over the next four innings. He struck out five RoughRider batters in his 80 pitches.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, Tulsa scored its third run. Driller hitters drew three walks to load the bases and one scored on a wild pitch to up the leas to 3-1.
Frisco made it a one-run game in the sixth when a 4-6 fielder's choice with the bases loaded scored the runner from third.
With two outs in the bottom of the seventh, Imanol Vargas doubled to plate two insurance runs for a 5-2 Tulsa lead.
Tulsa scored two additional runs in the ninth on Jorbit Vivas' RBI triple and Diaz's sacrifice fly.
HIGHLIGHTS & HAPPENINGS
*Diaz increased his on-base streak to 14 straight games. Diaz has walked in seven consecutive games and has earned a hit in 13 of his last 14 games. In August, Diaz leads the Drillers with a .422 average.
*Current Drillers Josh Stowers, Kevin Gowdy and Ricky Vanasco all played for the RoughRiders in 2022. Tuesday was their first game in Frisco since joining the Drillers.
*Gowdy, Vanasco and Ben Harris combined to toss the three scoreless innings to close the game.
*Vargas drove in his 73rd and 74th runs in the game, the fifth most in the Texas League.
*Frasso earned his third win. All of his wins have come on the road, as he is 3-1 away from ONEOK Field.
