Travs Fall in 10th One-Run Game in Last 11

North Little Rock, AR - A two-run Anthony Garcia home run in the sixth was the difference in a 2-1 Springfield Cardinals win over the Arkansas Travelers on Wednesday night at Dickey-Stephens Park.

Arkansas loaded the bases in the seventh and had runners on the corners in the third and fourth innings, but did not score.

The Travs scored their lone run in the ninth on a C Anthony Bemboom RBI single, but left the tying run at second and winning run at first to end the game.

RHP Austin Wood (L, 6-4) was fantastic for the Travs. He worked five scoreless and retired the first batter in the sixth before surrendering a single and being lifted from the game. Garcia hit the home run as the next batter of RHP Nate Hyatt.

In total, Wood worked 5.1 innings and allowed the run on two hits with three walks and a strikeout.

Hyatt allowed the run from the home run on three hits with a walk and a strikeout.

LHP Scott Snodgress tossed a scoreless eighth and RHP Eduard Santos pitched a clean ninth.

LHP Marco Gonzales worked 3.2 shutout innings in the start for Springfield.

RHP Corey Baker (W, 3-4) tossed 2.1 perfect innings after Gonzales for the win.

Cards C Michael Ohlman had the lone multi-hit game for either side.

Travs SS Eric Stamets reached base twice with a single and a walk. RF Blake Gailen walked twice and scored the lone Arkansas run.

Arkansas finished 1-for-8 with runners in scoring position.

With the loss, the Travs dropped back to 48-47 on the season. Arkansas will head to Tulsa one final time to begin a four-game series with the Tulsa Drillers on Thursday. First pitch for all four games is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
