Arkansas Travelers News Release
NORTH LITTLE ROCK - The third game of the Arkansas Travelers-Northwest Arkansas Naturals series was postponed Sunday due to poor field conditions and persistent rain. Traveler officials made the announcement at 7:43 p.m. after a delay of 1:46 in the top of the second inning.
Arkansas outfielder Coby Smith had the Sunday's only hit and a stolen base in the bottom of the first, while Traveler starter Jordan Walden had retired the first five Naturals before the rain forced the postponement.
The game will be made up Monday as part of a doubleheader, beginning at 2:00 p.m. The cross-state rivals will play two seven-inning contests tomorrow, with the second game beginning 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first contest. Only one ticket is required for admission to both games.
The postponement was the Travs' fifth of the year, more than any other team in the Texas League. Arkansas lefty Michael Anton (0-3, 4.60 ERA) will start the first game tomorrow against the Naturals' Anthony Lerew (2-3, 5.77). The starters for the series finale are TBD. The Travelers will try to stop a seven-game losing skid, while centerfielder Peter Bourjos looks to continue his 16-game hit streak.
