Frisco RoughRiders News Release
After a rough first inning, the RoughRiders used timely hitting and solid pitching to take the third game of the four game series against the San Antonio Missions, 4-3, on Sunday afternoon. In front of a sell-out crowd, lefty Michael Kirkman made his Double-A debut but didn't factor into the decision. Frisco used a combination of Andrew Laughter (2-1), Pedro Strop and Jumbo Diaz (S, 5) out of the bullpen to quiet the Missions' bats. Cesar Carrillo took the loss for the Missions dropping his record to 2-3 on the year.
In the first frame, San Antonio jumped out to the early 3-0 lead by taking advantage of Kirkman for four singles, sending eight hitters to the plate. Three runs crossed the plate in the form of Cedric Hunter, Eric Sogard and Mike Baxter. After the first frame, Kirkman settled in and pitched four scoreless innings before giving way to Laughter who picked up the win for Frisco.
The 'Riders rallied in the fourth after Gentry led of the inning with a double and later scored on a Chad Tracy sacrifice fly to left. Again in the fifth, the 'Riders found the scoreboard with Adam Fox and Guilder Rodriguez scoring on a Gentry double, tying the score at three. Frisco took the lead in sixth inning when Chad Tracy singled and scored after Manny Pina reached on an error.
Gentry led the RoughRiders with a pair of hits, both doubles, two RBI, and a run scored. Tracy recorded the other RBI for the Frisco offense. Frisco tallied just two walks in the contest, both by Emerson Frostad.
The final game of the four game series will be played Monday afternoon at Dr Pepper Ballpark, with a 4 p.m. first pitch in honor of Memorial Day.
