Trashers come from behind to top Elmira

ELMIRA, NY--Ryan Barnes netted his 7th of the season at the 6:38 mark of the third to give Danbury a 3-2 lead as he helped lead the Trashers to a 4-2 win over Elmira at First Arena on Friday night.

No shootouts were needed to decide the game as the Trashers opened the scoring at the 13:03 mark as Danny Stewart knocked a rebound past Nick Boucher to give the Trashers a 1-0 first period lead.

The Jackals utilized the power play in the second as Sean Kotary and Chris Chaput netted goals at 10:45 and 16:55 to give Elmira a 2-1 lead. Donny Grover then scored his 7th of the season at the 19:57 mark to tie the score at 2-2 heading into the final period.

After Barnes scored his go-ahead goal, Danbury added some insurance as Drew Omicioli scored his 26th of the season at the 12:31 mark, assisted by Shawn Collymore.

Jayme Platt saved 33 of 35 shots for his 9th win of the season, while Dave MacIsaac finished the game with three assists for Danbury. Boucher stopped 32 of 36 in the loss. The Trashers now lead the Adirondack Frostbite by 11 points in the UHL East Division.

Danbury travels to Roanoke on Saturday night at 7:30 before the Trashers head home to host Elmira on Sunday at 7pm. Tickets are available at DanburyTrashers.com or in person at the Danbury Ice Arena.
