Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, May 30, 2005 - The Alouettes continued their training camp at the Campus du Fort Saint-Jean today. Here's a look at Day 2, which was held at the Stade du Haut-Richelieu:
Two departures
The Alouettes announced that linebacker Marvin Jones and defensive end Nick Hill were released.
Two additions
Defensive back Kealvin Armstrong and Josh Lovelady have replaced them on the roster. Lovelady is now the heaviest player at camp at 349 lbs.
Two interceptions
Veteran defensive back Reggie Durden had two interceptions over the course of today's practices.
Two practices
As usual, the Alouettes held two consecutive practices. In the second session, players wore shoulder pads for the first time this training camp.
Curry
Cornerback Almondo Curry is now in town and will undergo his medical exam today. He is expected on the practice field tomorrow.
Bumps and bruises
Four minor injuries today: Terry Vaughn (toe), Robert Edwards (hamstring), Jajuan Dawson (toe) and Mark Estelle (groin).
According to Coach Matthews
''I'm going to fire my weatherman,'' he said, joking about Assistant General Manager Marcel Desjardins who had informed Coach Matthews of a 60 per cent chance of rain before today's practice. ''Vets set the tempo and everyone picks up from there,'' he said, commenting on the impressive rhythm of both practices.
Schedule
The Alouettes will continue on their regular schedule tomorrow. First practice will begin at 8 a.m. with players available for interviews after the last practice.
