TRADE: Storm Acquire 2022 Phase I Draft Pick in Transaction
November 3, 2020 - United States Hockey League (USHL)
Tri-City Storm News Release
Kearney, NE. - The Tri-City Storm has acquired a 4th Round draft pick in the 2022 USHL Phase I draft from the Lincoln Stars in exchange for goaltender Ryan Ouellette. Ouellette appeared in seven games in net for the Storm during the 2019-2020 season and posted a 1-2-2 record.
Ryan Ouellette, 19, of Colorado Springs, Colorado recorded a 2-0 record in goal for Tri-City during the 2020-2021 preseason. He stopped 38 of 42 shots faced and posted a Goals Against Average (GAA) of 1.98. His preseason save percentage was .905%. Ouellette was added to the Storm's roster in January of 2020 after spending the first half of the 2019-2020 season with the Yorkton Terriers (SJHL). In his time with Tri-City during the 2019-2020 season, Ouellette recorded a GAA of 3.28 and a save percentage of .839%. Ouellette recorded his first career USHL victory in net on February 15th, 2020 in Tri-City's 5-2 road win over the Madison Capitols.
"Through the preseason, I thought all three goaltenders did what they were supposed to do, which is give us a chance to win the game. The unfortunate part of the business is we had to make difficult roster decisions, but we were glad to be able to keep Ryan in the USHL and give him an opportunity to play in Lincoln." President of Hockey Operations/Head Coach Anthony Noreen
"While with us late last season after his acquisition and through training camp this season, Ryan was a competitive and professional teammate and goaltender for our club. He did everything right with us, but we feel this trade puts him in a better position to earn a college scholarship and commitment than maybe his opportunity with us was going to be. We wish Ryan all the best moving forward in his hockey career." General Manager Jason Koehler
