Saints Release Roster for 2020-21 Season
November 3, 2020 - United States Hockey League (USHL)
Dubuque Fighting Saints News Release
The Dubuque Fighting Saints have announced their roster ahead of the 2020-21 regular season. USHL teams are allowed to have up to 25 players on their roster this season. The Saints roster features a strong mix of returners and experience from other junior leagues.
Dubuque returns 10 players from last year's team and an additional two players who made their USHL debuts with Dubuque last season. Stephen Halliday will lead a strong group of forwards back onto the ice, while the defense will be bolstered by the likes of Braden Doyle, Michael Feenstra, Ian Pierce and Evan Stella. In all, Dubuque returns over 400 games of USHL experience from last year's team.
"We have a team with skill that can make plays and a nice combination of returners and new faces," said Saints GM Kalle Larsson. "It will be exciting to see the players evolve and find their roles on the team in the coming weeks."
The roster also includes experience from outside the USHL. Henry Thrun and PJ Fletcher are back from the NCAA ranks as Thrun returns from Harvard and Fletcher from Quinnipiac. Jake Goldowski enters with over 200 games of junior experience, including some time in the USHL with the NTDP.
The Saints also feature plenty of young talent, with many names' fans might recognize from affiliate lists of years past. Max Burkholder, Riley Rosenthal, Max Montes, Connor Kurth and Kenny Connors all bring plenty of upside in their first season's in the USHL.
"Our team has a little bit of a different look than last year," said Larsson. "We have six 2003's on the team, which are more of that age-group than ever before, so that will be interesting to see. They are all highly talented players but will take some time to get used to the league."
In net Dubuque has a solid duo of Hobie Hedquist and Aidan McCarthy. McCarthy played in over 20 games last year and Hedquist is one for one in his only USHL action.
