Arkansas Travelers News Release
North Little Rock, AR - The Arkansas Travelers won their first home series of the season after a 4-3 victory over the San Antonio Missions on Sunday night at Dickey-Stephens Park.
With the game tied 3-3 in the fourth, RF Cal Towey launched his fourth home run of the season, a no-doubt shot to right, to put the Travs up for good.
Towey then robbed SS Jose Rondon of a potential home run with a leaping catch in the next half inning.
Arkansas scored its first three runs thanks to five straight singles in the second.
2B Alex Yarbrough finished 3-for-5 for the Travs.
Towey reached base three times, going 2-for-4 with the home run and a walk.
Arkansas starting pitcher RHP Victor Alcantara (W, 2-3) earned his first victory since his inaugural Double-A start back on April 8. Alcantara worked five innings and allowed three runs (two earned) on five hits with a walk and four strikeouts.
The Travs bullpen worked four scoreless innings of relief, including RHP Austin Adams (S, 1) who notched his first save of the season.
With the win, Arkansas improved to 23-33 on the season. The Travs will enjoy Monday off before beginning a four-game series at Springfield on Tuesday. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
