The so-called "book" on baseball says teams score roughly half the time when getting the leadoff runner on base in a given inning. On Saturday night, the Tulsa Drillers (after going 1-2-3 in the first inning) had at least one man on base with no outs in four different innings ... and didn't score a run. Tulsa did bring single runs in four other innings, in three cases scoring after the first two batters of the frame went out.

Solo home runs from Willie Calhoun (in the fifth) and Brandon Trinkwon (in the seventh) ... each with two outs ... gave the Drillers a 3-2 lead, but the RockHounds tied the game with an unearned run in the home half of the seventh.

With the bases empty and two out in the ninth, Calhoun drew a walk on a nine-pitch plate appearance and Cody Bellinger singled up the middle on the next pitch from 'Hounds reliever Kyle Finnegan. After Finnegan's 1-2 delivery to Lars Anderson barely missed, Anderson drove the next pitch through a defensive shift and into right-center field, driving home the game-winning run.

RBI singles from Tyler Marincov and Brett Vertigan (first and fourth innings, respectively) gave the RockHounds leads of 1-0 and 2-1. After tying the game in the seventh, however, the 'Hounds went in order in the last two innings, with Caleb Dirks earning the save in the ninth (the final out coming on John Nogowski's 395-foot drive to straightaway center field).
