
Tourists Tally 17 Hits In Fourth Consecutive Win

KANNAPOLIS, NC - Four different Tourists players had three hits apiece as the team combined for 17 hits in an 11-3 victory over the Kannapolis Intimidators Wednesday morning.
Everth Cabrera, Darin Holcomb, Jeffrey Cunningham, and Kevin Clark all had three hits and every player in the lineup recorded a hit, including a solo homerun from Brian Rike, his 3rd, to extend Asheville's winning streak to four.
Joey Williamson made a spot start and tossed four scoreless innings while striking out eight in a no decision. Matthew Reynolds (1-0) pitched the fifth and sixth and allowed one run with three strikeouts to pick up the win. Edgmer Escalona finished the last three innings to earn the save.
The Tourists had a 2-0 lead heading into the sixth inning and erupted against the Intimidators bullpen for five runs in the frame highlighted by a two-run triple from center fielder Michael Mitchell.
RHP Jason Rice (0-1) tossed 4 1/3 innings for the Intimidators. He struck out six but was handed the loss.
Asheville (6-1) entered the game leading the league in pitching and has limited Kannapolis (3-4) to just four runs in the first three games of the series. The team goes for the sweep on Thursday with Cory Riordan (1-0, 0.00 ERA) getting the start at 7:05.
