Series Insight: Greensboro welcomes Hickory back to NewBridge Bank Park for Game 3 of a current four-game series and eight-game homestand... Player Notes: Infielder Ryan Anetsberger has had three multiple hit games through the first six games of the season... Anetsberger had two hits against Augusta on Friday and collected another two hits in the second game of Sunday's double-header; he also picked up two hits in Monday's home opener... Anetsberger is one of two position players to have seen action in every game this season; Mike Stanton is the other... Tom Hickman has hit safely in each of his last five games... Hickman's current hit streak is the second longest in the South Atlantic League this season... Stanton's home run was the first of the season for the Greensboro and the first for a Grasshopper player since Adam Howard's fourth-inning home run in the 2007 season-finale against West Virginia.
Quick Stats: The last time the Grasshoppers dropped their home-opener, 2007, they went on to win the final three games of a four-game series against Lake County and finished a similar eight-game home stand with a 6-2 record... Greensboro's franchise record is now 210-211.
The Ups and Downs: During Greensboro's two-game skid, the Grasshoppers were batting .231 and had a combined 3.78 ERA... In their four wins, Greensboro has a .270 batting average and and 1.59 ERA.
Ahead of the Count: Tuesday's starter Brett Durand picked up his first win of the season after being added to the roster just one day earlier... Durand threw five solid, scoreless innings and was able to throw first-pitch strikes to 15 of the 18 batters he faced... In all, Durand threw just 58 pitches in his 5.0 innings of work, including 42 for strikes... He was the sixth starting pitcher the Grasshoppers have used this season.
This Day in Hoppers History: Greensboro is 3-0 in April 9 games and has scored exactly three runs in each of its previous games played on this date... In 2005, the Grasshoppers defeated Hickory 3-2... Since then the Hoppers have recorded a 3-0 win over Hagerstown (2006) and a 3-1 win over Lakewood (2007)... Today is also the third time in four years that Greensboro has played at home on April 9.
Top Prospects: The Marlins' top pick in the 2007 draft (12th overall), Matt Dominguez, is the highest touted third-baseman on the Marlins' prospect list printed in Baseball America and enters his first full season of professional baseball after playing five games with the Gulf Coast Marlins and 10 games with Jamestown... In the same article, Dominguez was named the Marlins' best Minor League defensive infielder... Mike Stanton, the Marlins' second draftee in the 2007 draft, also split time between the Gulf Coast Marlins (8 games) and Jamestown (9 games) last season... Entering the season, Stanton ranks ninth on Baseball America's top 10 prospects for the Marlins and was tabbed the organization's best power hitter and best athlete in the minors.
Welcome Home: The Grasshoppers are 120-92 (.567) all-time at NewBridge Bank Park, including a single-season best 47 wins during the 2007 season.
Up Next: Greensboro continues the second half of an eight-game homestand by hosting Asheville for a four-game series at NewBridge Bank Park that features fireworks on Friday and Saturday and the first day game of the year on Monday (12:30 p.m.)... Last season the Grasshoppers were just 2-6 against Asheville, earning both wins at home.
