
Tough Defense Helps Tulsa Beat Toros

AUSTIN, Texas - Desmon Farmer scored 30 points and four assists to help the Tulsa 66ers defeat the Austin Toros 97-76 on Tuesday night at the Austin Convention Center. Tulsa held the Toros to only 33 percent shooting for the game and their lowest point total of the season.
The Tulsa 66ers used a sharp shooting first quarter to help build a lead on the Toros early in the game. Farmer scored eight of his team high 30 points in the first period as 66ers shot 52 percent for the quarter. The 66ers pushed their lead to 43-29 on Farmer's free throw and led 46-39 at the half.
Tulsa would lead by as many as 25 points late in the fourth quarter and closed out the game on a 27-9 run.
Other players in double figures for Tulsa included Jeff Varem (24 points), Morro Dos Santos (10) and Jean Felix grabbed 12 rebounds and scored eight points. Felix dished out a team high six assists for Tulsa, who improved to 21-28 on the season.
Cheyne Gadson led the Toros in scoring with 15 points and eight assists on 5-of-17 shooting. Jamar Smith collected 11 rebounds and scored 14 points and Justin Bowen grabbed a career high 15 rebounds for the Toros, who drop to 21-27 on the season.
