TOP PERFORMER: Von Wafer of Colorado has been named the D-LEAGUE.com Performer of the Week after averaging 30.0 points in three games last week. Wafer tied his season-high of 43 points along with seven rebounds on Friday in a win over Idaho. He posted totals of 21 and 26 points in his other two games, and connected on .573 (35-61) of his field-goal attempts over the three games. The second-year pro from Florida State was also proficient from three-point range, connecting on .416 (10-24) from beyond the arc.
IT'S ELEMENTARY: After practicing at the Boy's and Girl's Club this morning, the Western Division Champion Idaho Stampede will take a KeyBank School Timeout at Ustick Elementary in Boise to speak to fifth-grade students about sportsmanship and hard work.
MAJOR AWARD: Dakota forward Renaldo Major was named the 2006-07 D-League Defensive Player of the Year by league coaches on Monday. Among league leaders in steals per game (1.5 pg), Major also averages 18.3 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists. He has recorded at least three steals in 11 games this season.
COMING ATTRACTIONS: The 2006-07 D-League Rookie of the Year award will be announced today, followed by the Dennis Johnson Coach of the Year Award on Wednesday and the D-League MVP on Thursday.
WIN AND IN: The road to the final available postseason spot is cut and dried for Albuquerque...win and you're in. If the T-Birds win their last two games, Coach Michael Cooper's club will earn the #3 seed in the Western Division no matter what happens with Anaheim and Los Angeles.
