DAYTONA BEACH, FL - The Daytona Tortugas left the tying run at third base in their 4-3 loss against the St. Lucie Mets Monday night at Radiology Associates Field at Jackie Robinson Ballpark. RHP Harol Gonzalez earned his first career win in 15 starts with St. Lucie.

St. Lucie built an early four 4-0 lead against RHP Tommy Bergjans. The Mets got on the board with a rare multi-homer inning in the second. Michael Paez led off the frame with a 396-foot bomb to left field for the 1-0 lead. With two outs, Luis Carpio doubled the lead by wrapping another solo home run around the left field pole.

St. Lucie entered the game with the fewest home runs in Minor League Baseball, having hit just 13 in their previous 52 games.

St. Lucie doubled its lead in the fourth. Ocala native Dash Winningham led off the frame with a wall-ball double to left and scored a batter later when Wuilmer Becerra singled to center. Becerra then swiped second and scored two batters latter when Dan Rizzie blooped a base hit to center.

Daytona would get the runs back in the home half, getting on the board against Gonzalez. Taylor Trammell started off the fourth with a triple to right center field. Tyler Stephenson followed with a two-run homer to left field, his eighth of the year.

The Tortugas bullpen held St. Lucie at four runs, while Daytona was able to cut to deficit in half in the seventh. Ibandel Isabled led off the inning with a bouncing single up the middle and moved to second on a RHP Austin McGeorge wild pitch. Michael Beltre then made it a one run game with a single into center.

Following a mound visit, Randy Ventura bounced into a 4-6-3 inning-ending doubleplay, wasting the tying run on base.

Bruce Yari flared a single to left field to start the bottom of the ninth against RHP Adam Atkins. He advanced to second on a ground out, before having Daniel Sweet pinch run for him. Sweet then moved up 90 feet on a Isabel grounder to second.

With two outs in the ninth and the tying run at third, Brantley Bell fouled out to first base on a 2-0 pitch for the final out of the game.

Gonzalez (1-6) finally found his first win, allowing two runs and three hits in six innings. Bergjans (1-1) endured his first loss with Daytona, surrendering four runs in six innings, while striking out seven. All season-highs.

The two-game series will conclude Tuesday night at The Jack. RHP Tony Santillan (6-4, 2.89) gets the ball for Daytona against RHP Gabriel Llanes (2-8, 5.94), who will be facing the Tortugas for the third time this season (0-2, 11.73).

First pitch Tuesday is scheduled for 7:05 PM, with coverage beginning at 7:45 PM with The Metcare Pregame Show on AM 1230, AM 1490, and FM 106.9 WSBB. The night will include the largest postgame fireworks show of the year following the final out.
