
Tortugas Drop Fifth Straight

DAYTONA BEACH, FL - The Daytona Tortugas suffered their fifth straight loss Friday night, 8-3, against the Clearwater Threshers at Spectrum Field. Daytona has now lost five straight games for the first time since July of 2016 and has dipped below .500 (33-34) for the first time since they were 7-8 on April 21st.
RHP Jonathan Crawford (0-4) suffered the loss, allowing seven runs in 3 1/3 innings. He walked four and hit a batter. Crawford now leads the league with 41 walks and is 1-8 in 20 career starts with Daytona.
The Threshers struck first with a first inning run for the second straight night, securing the victory with back-to-back three run innings in the third and fourth innings against Crawford.
Daytona's latest additions have all made a good first impression with their new ball club. Luis Gonzalez has registered multuple hits in each of his first two games with Daytona, Brantley Bell has recorded an RBI in each of his first two games and James Vasquez has notched a base hit in each game, doubling Thursday night.
Daytona, 0-2 to start the second half. continues it series in Clearwater Saturday night. RHP Vladimir Gutierrez will attempt to act as the stopper, as Daytona looks to avoid it's longest losing streak since June of 2015. First pitch is scheduled for 6:15 PM with coverage beginning with The Metcare Pregame Show at 6:05 on AM 1230 and AM 1490 WSBB.
