Fort Myers Mighty Mussels News Release

KISSIMMEE, Fla. - The Fort Myers Miracle (1-2) scored runs in three straight innings to come within a run three different times but ultimately dropped Saturday night's game, 4-3, to the Florida Fire Frogs (2-1).

The runs came early in the game before both bullpens shut down the opposition. RHP Touki Toussaint (W, 2-8) picked up his first win since his first start of the year by allowing three runs on two hits over five innings.

The Fire Frogs jumped out to a 2-0 lead when Austin Riley belted a two-run shot in the first inning that hooked inside the left field pole off RHP Brady Anderson (L, 3-3). Then began a stretch of five consecutive half-innings with exactly one run.

In the top of the third, Max Murphy's two-out single plated Shane Kennedy. In the bottom of the frame, Riley took Anderson deep for a second time. Fort Myers pulled back within one again on an RBI-groundout by Jaylin Davis to score Jermaine Palacios. The Fire Frogs answered with another solo home run, this time off the bat of Alay Lago. In the fifth, a dropped-third strikeout that saw Nelson Molina reach with two outs subsequently scored Kennedy from third to make it 4-3.

From there, the score would hold as four Florida relievers combined for four scoreless innings capped by LHP Corbin Clouse's (Sv, 1) first save of the year.

Anderson ended with four runs (all on homers) over 5.2 innings. He gave way to LHP Michael Theofanopoulos who inherited the bases loaded in the sixth. The lefty struck out Anfernee Seymour to end the threat and then tossed a scoreless seventh and eighth to keep the Miracle in the game.

Fort Myers looks to even the series in the finale on Sunday at 5:05 PM ET with a pair of lefties on the mound. LHP Anthony McIver duels LHP Ricardo Sanchez
