Toronto FC Announce the 2023 MLS Regular Season Schedule
December 20, 2022 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Toronto FC News Release
Toronto FC announced today the club's 34-match schedule for the 2023 Major League Soccer (MLS) regular season.
Toronto FC's 17th season in club history will kick off when the Reds hit the road to face D.C. United at Audi Field on Saturday, February 25 at 7:30 p.m. Two weeks later, TFC will host Columbus Crew at BMO Field on Saturday, March 11 at 7:30 p.m. in the club's 2023 Home Opener. The Reds will host Orlando City S.C. on Decision Day, scheduled for Saturday, October 21.
During the 2023 season, Toronto FC will play 26 matches on Saturdays, six on Wednesdays, and one on both Sundays and Tuesdays. At home, the Reds will play 13 matches on Saturdays, three on Wednesdays and one on Sunday.
Toronto FC will face "401 Derby" rivals CF Montreal on two occasions this season. TFC will play on the road on Saturday, May 13, to face Montreal at Saputo Stadium and then host Montreal on Sunday, August 20. The Reds will meet their other Canadian rival, Vancouver Whitecaps FC, on Saturday, September 16, at BMO Field.
Other notable matchups on the schedule include the away match on Saturday, May 20, against Austin FC, for the first matchup between the clubs, and the first-ever meeting with the 2023 MLS expansion team, St. Louis City SC, at home on Saturday, July 8. The schedule also features three matches against Western Conference opponents, San Jose Earthquakes (March 25), Minnesota United (June 3), and Real Salt Lake (July 1).
With the Leagues Cup in 2023 taking place in the summer across the U.S. and Canada, MLS will pause the regular season from July 21 until August 19. The month-long competition will crown the winner among MLS and LIGA MX teams. The champion, as well as the second and third place finishers will qualify for the Concacaf Champions League and have an opportunity to earn a spot in the FIFA Club World Cup.
The 2023 season will also see the debut of MLS Season Pass, the unprecedented subscription service from Apple and Major League Soccer that will have every match of the MLS regular season, Audi 2023 MLS Cup Playoffs, and Leagues Cup - all in one place and with no blackouts. With MLS Season Pass, fans can enjoy every MLS match, an average of 13 games each Saturday night, on billions of devices through the Apple TV app on Apple devices, smart TVs, streaming devices, set-top boxes, and game consoles, and the web at tv.apple.com. The launch of MLS Season Pass on Feb. 1, 2023 marks the official kickoff of the 10-year partnership between MLS and Apple, a historic first for a major professional sports league. Select matches will also be available on TSN and RDS in Canada. The extensive schedule of TSN and RDS regular season matches will be announced at a later time, with at least one match per week featuring a Canadian team.
