
Toronto Falls 2-1 in Wilkes-Barre

The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins defeated the Toronto Marlies by a score of 2-1 tonight from the Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza in Wilkes-Barre.
The game remained scoreless through 40 minutes despite numerous scoring opportunities by both teams. Toronto outshot Wilkes-Barre 22-18 over the first two periods. Will Acton's third goal of the season opened the scoring at the 6:56 mark of the final period. The Penguins would respond just over two minutes later when defenceman Simon Despres scored on a scramble play in front of goaltender Ben Scrivens. Riley Holzapfel made it 2-1 for Wilkes-Barre on the powerplay with three minutes left in regulation. Despite late pressure, the Marlies were unable to tie the game.
The Marlies will take to ice for their third game in four days tomorrow evening in Hershey. Puck drop is set for 5 p.m. Toronto will return home on December 1 for a 7 p.m. game against the Rochester Americans, AHL affiliate of the Buffalo Sabres.
