
Kuemper Reassigned to Houston Aeros, Curry Released

Houston, TX - Houston Aeros General Manager Jim Mill announced on Saturday that goalie Darcy Kuemper has been reassigned by the National Hockey League's Minnesota Wild to the Houston Aeros from the Orlando Solar Bears, the Aeros ECHL affiliate. Mill also announced the team has released goalie John Curry from a PTO (professional tryout agreement).
Kuemper played in Orlando's 1-0 loss on Friday at Gwinnett. The young netminder made 17 saves in the second period and finished with 36 stops in the defeat. He has made five appearances for the Aeros this season, going 3-2-0 with a 2.56 goals against average and a .898 save percentage. Kuemper also posted the team's first shutout of the season with 33 saves against Milwaukee at home on Oct. 27. The 22-year old was drafted by Minnesota in the sixth round (#161 overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. He played in eight games for the ECHL's Ontario Reign in 2011-12, going 7-2-0 with a 1.74 goals against average and a .941 save percentage.
Curry will return to Orlando after backing up Matt Hackett in San Antonio on Friday, a 2-1 win for the Aeros. He's made 14 appearances for Orlando this season, going 7-5-2-0. The 28-year old posted a 2.82 goals against average and a .907 save percentage with the Solar Bears. The sixth-year pro has made 177 AHL appearances, going 103-59-6 with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton from 2007-11. He produced a 2.49 goals against average and a .907 save percentage in the AHL. The Shorewood, MN native played in Hamburg of the DEL last season, going 22-20-0 with a 2.73 goals against average and a .917 save percentage.
Houston will host the Abbotsford Heat on Sunday, Nov. 25 at 5:05 p.m. This season every Sunday is a Family Day, where families can purchase a package with parking, four tickets and four Aeros gifts, starting at $54. Houston continues a three-game home stand with Oklahoma City on Thursday and Friday versus Oklahoma City at 7:05 p.m. at Toyota Center. The Aeros will host Girl Scout Night on Friday and celebrate the final day of Movember. The team will also host a Peanut Butter and Jelly Drive. Every fan that brings a jar of peanut butter or jelly, will receive two free tickets to a select future Aeros home game. The Girl Scouts are running the donation program to benefit the homeless.
Aeros season tickets start as low as $9 per seat and may be purchased online at Aeros.com by placing a $100 deposit.
