Worcester Tornadoes News Release
The Tornadoes had three different leads in a 6-3 win Monday night at Hanover Insurance Park at Fitton Field.
In the top of the sixth inning, Worcester fell behind the New York Federals for the first time. The Tornadoes didn't trail long. Over the next three innings, they put five runs on the board while giving up just one to the Federals. Worcester 3B Mark Minicozzi doubled in two in the sixth and another in the eighth to cap off his 3-4 night. On top of his three RBI, Minicozzi also scored a run himself. Tornadoes starting pitcher Nick Serino only allowed one earned run but didn't factor in the decision after six innings. Tornadoes reliever JJ Pacella earned the win with Rick Asadoorian picking up the save. Federals Eddie Lantigua went 2-4 with a run and two RBI in the loss for the Federals.
Game two of the series will be Tuesday night, with a 7:05pm first pitch. The Tornadoes will be home through Sunday before having their first off-day of the season.
